Coming to church for the first time can be daunting. But don't worry, everyone at St John's and St Mildred's was new once, and we know how it feels.
Our congregation comes from all walks of life and in all shapes, sizes and ages. We're fairly informal and there's no dress code or secret passwords you need to know!
Everyone is welcome to our Sunday services, and to help you know what to expect, we've put together some FAQs below.
How long is the service?
This will depend a little on which of our services you attend and whether there is communion. But in general, services are about 60 mins.
What happens when I arrive?
One of our Welcome Team will greet you at the door. You're free to take a seat wherever you like.
What happens during a service?
The service will normally consist of a welcome, singing of hymns or worship songs, bible reading(s), prayers, and a sermon based on the bible readings.
Some services include Holy Communion, at which we all share in the bread and wine to remember Jesus instructions at the Last Supper. People of all ages are welcome at God's table. If you don't want to receive communion, you can still receive a blessing. If you struggle with mobility then we can bring the bread and wine to you in your seat, or bless you.
Is there anything for children?
Yes, we have a chldren's area for toys, p=crayons and colouring b=sheets for children. Just ask one of the Welcome Team when you arrive and they'll show you where to go.
What happens afterwards?
We hope you will stay and chat over tea and coffee in St John's Centre or speak to one of the leadership team to find out more.
We hope to see you soon!
